The course offers the students an introductory therapeutic approach for the evaluation and treatment of Myofascial pain and musculoskeletal dysfunction. It will cover the clinically relevant items that pertain to the identification and management of Trigger Points, hypertonicity, muscular imbalances and Fascial Dysfunction.
The class will cover theory and current research regarding the Myofascial Trigger Point Syndrome. The research is the most up-to-date available on the pathogenesis of Myofascial dysfunction, clinical symptoms, physical findings as well as assessment criteria.The class would cover Anatomy, Pathology, Contraindications/Indications and hands-on techniques specific to Neuromuscular Therapy.
The course also includes the most common muscles that tend to have a higher incidence of the Myofascial Trigger Point involvement and imbalances. Each muscle will be described and palpated to better aid the student in a practicing setting. The muscle reviewed will contain information about the location of trigger points, referenced pain patterns, and biomechanics of injury. Treatment methods and techniques are also demonstrated and practiced in a comprehensive and step-by-step format with the class.
At the conclusion of the course the student/therapist will be able to understand, locate and apply Neuromuscular Therapy successfully and effectively in practice.
All participants will receive a certificate from ITM and CEUs approved by the National Certification Board.
